Firewalls are designed to protect network traffic and connections and may limit network traffic to prevent unauthorized access to a private network.
OU Information Technology maintains firewall devices on network hardware to ensure that the campus network is protected from internal and external electronic threats. In certain circumstances, an application or host may require an exception be made to firewall to allow network access.
There are no costs associated with this service.
Firewall and port changes will be approved based on the type of change and use within the institution. Changes may be granted based on the technical requirements of the system.
Customers may request to create, modify and remove changes.
