Purpose

CUI research projects should be capable of implementing safeguards defined in the NIST Special Publication 800-171 Protecting Controlled Unclassified Information in Nonfederal Systems and Organizations.

Services Available

OU IT offers a variety of services to help you achieve compliance with NIST 800-171 safeguards.

Laptops and Desktops

OU's Endpoint Asset Management and Device Support (EAMDS) initiative will save departments from 14% to 51% off academic pricing on a Windows computer and 4-6% on an Apple computer.  Laptops and desktops ordered through this initiative are delivered with full disk encryption, anti-virus, removable media encryption, and are configured with a baseline security standard.  See Standard Computer Request.

Secure Data Centers

OU's data centers provide a secure on-premise hosting environment for Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) impacted workloads that allows you to bring your own server equipment and is ideal for all CUI types.  See CUI Access Request.

Virtual Servers

OU can provide secure virtual servers in a cloud-hosted environment ideal for ITAR.  See CUI Access Request.  Please note, it may take up to 4 weeks to design and build virtual servers for a project.

Email

OU provides a dedicated Microsoft 365 GCC High service ideal for sending CUI via email.  See SecureResearchOU.

File Sharing
