To ensure the safety of your data and stability of your Android device, one should update their device with the latest system updates.
On Android devices, one should get a notification on their device when a software update is available. Once it appears, just swipe down from the top of any screen to open the notification and touch Download to start the update.
If you haven’t gotten a notification and want to check if there’s an update available for your device, please do the following:
- Open Settings for one of these options:
- Under “System,” touch About phone or About tablet > System updates.
- Alternately you may have Software Update listed as an immediate option.
- Touch Check for update to see if you have an update waiting. Or touch Download if there’s one already available.
Note: Some system updates may be large. We recommend charging your device and connecting to a wireless network during system updates.
