University of Oklahoma (OU/OUHSC) Account Types and Eligibility

The following describes the different types of accounts available to students, faculty, staff, and other associated with the University of Oklahoma, as well as the systems they can access. More information about the account types can be found in the Identity and Access Management Policy.

General Purpose

OU/OUHSC account for faculty, staff, students, and affiliates* (see eligibility table for affiliate access).

OU/OUHSC account for vendors, research partners, contractors which does not require annual trainings.

OU/OUHSC account created and maintained to support multiple users sharing the same identity. Shared Accounts are classified as either “With Password” or Without Password”. The use of “With Password” accounts is discouraged and is prohibited from accessing Category A, B, C, and D1 information (link to category information).

Account created and maintained for Information Systems to authenticate to other systems or applications without any associate to an individual.

Alumni account for OU/OUHSC graduates and OU/OUHSC retired faculty or staff. Alumni accounts do not keep their OU/OUHSC account and are provided new credentials and email address which is outside the OU/OUHSC domain.

Adobe Creative Cloud: Students may access Adobe Creative Cloud through University computer-labs. Affiliates and Sponsored accounts may access Adobe Creative Cloud with the use of a University owned machine. Alumni Accounts: University of Oklahoma (OU/OUHSC) Graduates and Retired Faculty or Staff may request an OU Alumni account in the @alumni.ou.edu account. The OU Alumni accounts is not associated with @ou.edu or @ouhsc.edu email addresses. Alumni accounts do not provide access to other Microsoft services. Microsoft Office Desktop Access: Faculty and Staff which are non-benefits eligible (e.g. Adjunct, Volunteer, PEAK, part-time) receive an A1 license. If these individuals utilize a University owned device they may request the installation of Microsoft Office on their desktop.
