Installing and Setting Up Respondus 4 Quiz Software

Important before Installing Respondus 4

  1. Installation is only available for Windows operating systems.
  2. The user account utilizing the software must have admin rights on the machine for it to be installed properly.
    • If you do not have admin rights to your device, please reach out to your college/department's IT department.

Steps for Installing Respondus 4

  1. ​​​​​Visit the Respondus 4 page from the IT Software Catalog, then log in with your OU credentials.
  2. Download and install the current version of the Respondus 4 software.
    • If you downloaded a ZIP file, please extract the installer before starting it up.
  3. When starting Respondus 4 for the first time, fill out the following campus-wide license information.
    1. Institution Name: University of Oklahoma
    2. Local Support Contact(s): learn@ou.edu
    3. Installation Password: Y2607I331614187R11b8c5694e057d56
  4. Select Canvas as the LMS Personality

Steps for Publishing or Retrieving Quiz Data

  1. When prompted to add new server settings, select "No, I want to enter the server settings manually" then select the Next button. The add new server settings window with options to either check for preconfigured server settings or enter the server setting manually. The radio button for the enter server settings manually option is selected. At the bottom of the window, there are four buttons: back, next, cancel, and help.
  2. In the Canvas Server Settings window, enter the following information:
    • Field 2. Enter https://canvas.ou.edu/
    • Field 3. Press the Extract >> button
    • Field 4. Enter OU Canvas
    • Field 5. Enter your OU credentials
    • Select the Remember my User Name and Password check box then select the OK button. The Canvas server settings window. Steps 2 through 5 have fields to enter information in.
  3. You will be prompted to log into the Canvas LMS using a new browser window.
    • Enter your OU credentials.
    • You may need to authorize your account's multi-factor authentication.
    • Select the authorize button. A window where Respondus is requesting access to your Canvas account. There are two buttons: a white cancel button and a blue authorize button.
