Connect Echo to AccessOU

NOTE: ECHODOT WILL NOT WORK ON WIFI@OU. USERS WILL NEED TO USE ACCESSOU.

REGISTER YOUR ECHO ON ACCESS.OU.EDU

  1. Go to access.ou.edu and log in with your OUNet ID and password
  2. Select Create Device.
  3. Fill in the required fields and select Create.
    • ​To find the MAC address of your Amazon, you will need to know the Device Serial Number.
    • Go to https://www.amazon.com/clicktochat-alexachatsupport
    • Using the Device Serial Number, Amazon will be able to tell you the MAC address.​
  4. You should receive confirmation that your device was successfully created.
  5. Selecting Manage Devices on the left hand side should bring you to a list of all devices that you have created.
  6. You will also receive an email to the address you registered with another confirmation that your device was registered. This confirmation will come from clearpass@ou.edu

LOG IN TO THE ALEXA APP

 

  1. Install and open the Amazon Alexa app on your preferred device (mobile or desktop).
  2. Log in with your Amazon account.
  3. Open the Settings page in the Alexa app.
    1. Select “Set up a new device”.
    2. Select your Echo type.
    3. Choose your language, then hit “Continue”.
    4. Press “Connect to Wi-Fi”.
  4. Plug your Echo into a power outlet. In about a minute, Echo will tell you that it is ready and the light ring will turn orange.

 

CONNECT THE ECHO TO ACCESSOU

  1. Ensure the light ring on the Echo is Orange, then hit “Continue” in the Alexa app.
  2. Select “AccessOU” from the list of available Wi-Fi networks.
  3. Press “Connect”
  4. Once connected, the setup will tell you that additional action is required to access the internet. Press “Continue” to open OU’s Network Registration page.
  5. After a few seconds, the Alexa app will load https://net-reg.ou.edu/
    1. Login with your OUNetID and password.
    2. Fill out the Net-Reg form. Use “Other” for Device Category and Type.
    3. Submit the form
  6. Once submitted, it may take up to 5 minutes for the Echo to connect to WiFi
    1. The Alexa app should automatically close the Net-Reg page once it detects the Echo is connected to Wi-Fi.
    2. The Alexa app will show “Preparing your Echo”
    3. Once that is completed, your Echo is ready to use.
  7. If the LED Ring is still showing Orange, the Alexa app will tell you it was unable to connect to WiFi. Unplug the Echo and plug it in again. After rebooting, it should connect to WiFi and the Alexa app will tell you it is ready to use.
