How to Request Support for NVivo

 

Install and License NVivo (by creating a myNVivo account - RECOMMENDED)

  1. Go to https://portal.mynvivo.com/account
  2. Sign in if you have an account and skip to step 6.
  3. If you do not have an account, click the “Sign up now” button.
  4. Enter basic account information.
    1. First Name and Last Name
    2. OU Email Address (click the Send Verification Code and enter the code that is sent to your email)
    3. Password
    4. Accept the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy
    5. Click “Create Account”
  5. Enter account type information.
    1. Industry: Academic
    2. Customer Type: Individual
    3. Country: United States
    4. State: Oklahoma
  6. Obtain your license key from OU IT.
    1. Go to https://itsoftware.ou.edu.
    2. Enter your OU username and password, then click “Login”
    3. Click on “NVivo”
    4. Copy your License Key (highlight the key, right-click it, and select “Copy”)
  7. Go to https://portal.mynvivo.com/account/licence-registration
    1. Enter in your License Key (right-click the text box and select “Paste”) NVivo Registration Pop up Window
    2. Click “Submit”
    3. On success, you should see a message saying “The license key has been registered against your myNVivo profile”.

  9. Download the appropriate NVivo installer (Windows or Mac).
  10. Run the downloaded installer to install NVivo.
  11. Open NVivo.
  12. Click “Log into myNVivo”.
  13. You should be redirected to a sign in site on your browser. Sign in with the account you created and registered your license key with.
  14. Close the sign in window and continue back to NVivo.
  15. Select “The University of Oklahoma”. 
  16. On success, you should see “Your license has now been activated”. NVivo License activated pop up
  17. Click “OK”.
  18. Set up your user profile by entering your name and initials, then click “OK”.
  19. With NVivo setup complete, you may begin using the software.

 

Install and License NVivo (without a myNVivo account)

  1. Go to https://itsoftware.ou.edu.
  2. Enter your OU username and password, then click “Login”
  3. Click on “NVivo”
  4. Click on the appropriate download link to download the software.
    1. WIN 64-bit NVivo for Windows devices
    2. MAC NVivo for Mac devices
  5. After the download finishes, run the installer and install NVivo.
    1. Windows: NVivo.x64.exe
    2. Mac: NVivo.dmg
  6. Open NVivo
  7. To activate, click “or provide enterprise key to activate”. Activate NVivo window
  8. Copy/paste the license key (from the IT Software Catalog with the download link).
  9. Review the user acknowledgement and click the checkbox.
  10. Click “Next”.
  11. Fill out the required information for License Activation and click “Activate”. License Activation screen with blank fields
  12. On success, you should see a message saying “Your license has been activated”.
  13. Click “OK”.
  14. Set up your user profile by entering your name and initials, then click “OK”. User Profile screen
  15. With NVivo setup complete, you may begin using the software.

 

Update Your License Key

To update the license key for an existing installation on Windows:

  1. Make sure the computer is connected to the internet.
  2. Close any NVivo projects that are open.
  3. Open NVivo
    • File --> Product Info --> Manage License --> Deactivate License
      • Confirm deactivation
      • NVivo will automatically close
  4. Reopen NVivo
    • Click "provide enterprise key to activate"
    • Input new license key and fill out required information

To update the license key for an existing installation on Mac:

  1. Make sure the computer is connected to the internet
  2. Close any NVivo projects that are open
  3. In the guide linked below, follow the steps to deactivate then enter a license and activation details.
