Office Enterprise for Windows License Script

Note: As of October 2018, Office 2010 Enterprise is no longer available.

With Office 2013 Enterprise for Windows, the university software contacts a licensing server in order to validate and open. If a user is on campus, they need to be connected through Ethernet or through OU Wifi. If one is off campus, they will need to connect to the OU VPN. Note that the non-Enterprise installations of Office which install through a Product Key will not need VPN.

To access VPN, one needs to log in to IT Downloads site with their OUNet ID and password. Click on “Free Software Downloads” under the “Everyone” heading. Select the OS, and then select the “VPN” section. Download and install the Cisco VPN Client. Run the OU VPN client and double click on the “Cox to OU-Norman Campus” Connection entry. You will be prompted to enter your OUNet ID and password and then click OK and then “Continue”.

If an Office for Windows user is having issues with Office not reaching this server, please try the following (also please ensure your date/time is correctly set):

Open a command prompt as an administrator. To do this, type cmd in the Run dialogue, right click on the Command program and click Run as Administrator. In the command window which opens, type the following:

FOR OFFICE 2013:

cscript “c:\program files\microsoft office\Office15\ospp.vbs” /sethst:s2-mslicensing.net.ou.edu

or, if you’re using 32-bit office on a 64-bit OS:

cscript “c:\program files (x86)\microsoft office\Office15\ospp.vbs” /sethst:s2-mslicensing.net.ou.edu

TO MANUALLY ATTEMPT TO ACTIVATE OFFICE 2013 ON A KMS CLIENT:

cscript C:\”Program Files (x86)”\”Microsoft Office”\Office15\ospp.vbs /act

or, if you’re using 32-bit office on a 64-bit OS:

cscript C:\”Program Files”\”Microsoft Office”\Office15\ospp.vbs /act

FOR OFFICE 2016:

cscript “c:\program files\microsoft office\Office16\ospp.vbs” /sethst:s2-mslicensing.net.ou.edu

or, if you’re using 32-bit office on a 64-bit OS:

cscript “c:\program files (x86)\microsoft office\Office16\ospp.vbs” /sethst:s2-mslicensing.net.ou.edu

TO MANUALLY ATTEMPT TO ACTIVATE OFFICE 2016 ON A KMS CLIENT:

cscript C:\”Program Files (x86)”\”Microsoft Office”\Office16\ospp.vbs /act

or, if you’re using 32-bit office on a 64-bit OS:

cscript C:\”Program Files”\”Microsoft Office”\Office16\ospp.vbs /act

This should point Office to the correct licensing server. If there are still issues present, please contact IT through needhelp.ou.edu or contact 325-HELP (4357).
