Configuring Call Forwarding on your 9611 Model Phone

OU IP phones can be configured to forward to other campus phones. To enable this forwarding, please do the following:

  1. Press the Call Forward button to enable call forwarding.
  2. Enter the five digit OU number to you want the incoming calls to forward to. You will hear 3 beeps and a green light indicates forwarding is set. So for example, if the OU phone number is 325-1234, you would enter 51234 as the forward number.
  3. To disable, press the Call Forward button again.

Call forwarding is also available for local off campus phones. If you wish to use off campus call forwarding, this is an extra service that must be added to your phone plan, and it carries additional charges. If your phone does not have local off campus call forwarding, this service can be requested via the IT Service Catalog here (click the Request Service). Please note that forwarding calls to a long distance, off campus number requires long distance dialing capabilities. If your phone does not have long distance dialing capabilities, you can request it via the IT Service Catalog here (click the Request tab, then select Modify), but be aware that long distance dialing capabilities carry additional charges. Also note that requesting phone programming changes can take anywhere from 5-10 business days to process. Once you’ve ensured your phone configuration is correct, you can set up call forwarding by doing the following:

  1. Press the Call Forward button to enable call forwarding.
  2. Enter 8 for off campus number calling, then the rest of the phone number you want the incoming calls to forward to. You will hear 3 beeps and a light indicating the forwarding is set. So for example, if the phone number to transfer to is 405-123-4567, you would enter 84051234567 as the forward number.
  3. To disable, press the Call Forward button again.

Call forwarding will only work as long as your OU phone is plugged in. If your office is temporarily unplugging your phones, these forwards will continue to work for a few hours, then error out in the system. If your department plans on remodeling your area which requires your phone be removed, you can still forward your phones. Please call the OU IT help line at 325-HELP to request that a switch side forward be temporarily activated for your line.
