Canvas-CE (Continuing Education) is an additional instance of Canvas available for use with external participants. It may be utilized to meet continuing education needs at The University of Oklahoma.
All OU faculty and staff can request a course in the Canvas-CE environment. Using a Canvas-CE instance costs $40 for each external user per year. External users are counted and will be billed only once. Billing is processed in July (for January to June users) and January (for July to December users). If participants have OU credentials, they cannot be added to the Canvas-CE environment unless they are facilitators.
In this guide, we will provide a few details about the Canvas-CE instance and walk you through the process of getting started.
Getting Started
You must go to the Canvas-CE support form https://link.ou.edu/canvas-ce to request the following:
- A brand new course offering
- Copy a course into a new iteration
- Add/Remove/Modify users in an existing CE course
Once you have submitted your request, the IT Learning Spaces team will work with you on it and obtain the CFS details for billing. Accounts will need to be created in the CE environment, which will require other steps and emails from Canvas directly.
Being Added in Canvas-CE
Once you are approved, an account will need to be created for you. Your OU email address will be used as part of the account creation process.
- You will receive an email from Instructure Canvas to "Finish Registration: Canvas"
- Once you click the link, below is a screenshot of what it will look like (your email address will appear in the login box).
- You will now set up a password. Please save this password for your future use.
After successfully logging into Canvas-CE, you will be directed to your Dashboard. At this point, please bookmark the Canvas-CE website address: https://oklahoma-ce.instructure.com
