Cognos is a web-accessed business intelligence tool (used to transform per-student Banner data into meaningful and useful information). This tool allows users to analyze large amounts of information in a variety of ways in order to identify opportunities and address challenges.

Features

Cognos allows access to aggregate data (for those who need access beyond “single-student” view) whether that is lists or summary tables. Different levels of access to Cognos requires different levels of technical and data ability. The range of technical ability required can range from a basic knowledge of Excel to developing complex filters and writing SQL.
