OneDrive Storage & Data Retention

OneDrive Storage Capacity

OneDrive for Business is available to faculty, staff and students with full OU accounts. Active accounts are allotted 1 Terabyte (TB) of storage space through OneDrive and file size may not exceed 10GB.

OneDrive Data Retention

OneDrive for Business requires an active account to retain data. If a faculty, staff or student account is transitioning to a different status, or the account will expire due to departure from The University, retention of data stored within OneDrive for Business will fall under the following retention policy:

When a faculty/staff/student departs from OU, data stored in OneDrive will enter a “deleted state” and will be deleted 30 days from account deletion.

Once the data is in the  “deleted state” it may be unrecoverable. It is recommended that data be transferred to an alternate storage method prior to account deletion or expiration.

If a faculty member, staff member, or student will be changing their account status, data stored within OneDrive (including OneNote) should be migrated to an alternative form of storage. Otherwise, this data will enter a deleted state and be deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
