Beginning April 4th, OU IT will implement the OUIDPIN as a step in our identity verification process. Individuals which do not have an OUIDPIN, forgot their OUIDPIN, or opt in for verification will be required to complete one of the methods listed in this article.
Please note these methods are not instantaneous, require human review, and will take time to verify. Setting an OUIDPIN for IT staff to verify your identity is the fastest method for account assistance.
The most accurate way to verify someone's identity is to validate several pieces of identity information that are difficult for others to impersonate. In order to better secure University data, resources, and account access OU IT may require additional forms of verification before we proceed with assisting users with account related issues (e.g. password reset, updating of PingID devices).
Identity Verification Methods
Photo Verification (Selfie with Photo ID)
As part of this process, individuals may be directed to provide a high resolution photo holding your valid University ID and/or government-issued ID that clearly shows your face and name. You may redact all other information from the ID except for the name and face. The two items (your face and photo ID) must be in the same photo. As an example, the IT Service Desk would need a photo like the following to be submitted through our online ticketing system:

In-Person Verification
Individuals may visit an OU IT Service Desk to verify their identity on any OU campus during our regular hours. As part of the process, you will be required to show your University ID and/or government issued ID. Service Desk time and locations can be found at the Service Desk Contact Information knowledge base article.
Virtual Verification
If an individual is not able to visit an OU IT Service Desk in person and is unable to email in a picture of their face with a photo ID, OU IT may require a virtual identity verification. When this occurs, a member of OU IT will coordinate with you to join a Zoom session. Once in the session, you will be asked to show your University ID and/or government issued ID and your face on the camera.
