Enroll in Haiku and Canto Apps

This Tip Sheet outlines how to enroll your device in 2 of the mobile apps that Epic offers.  Haiku (phone) and Canto (iPad)

To use the Epic mobile apps, users must enroll into 2 Factor Authentication. 

The recommended authenticator application is Epic Authenticator. This application is recommended so users can receive push notifications from Haiku and Canto as desired. 

Users can also use the following authenticator applications: Duo, Microsoft Authenticator, or Google Authenticator. Push notifications are not enabled for Duo, Microsoft Authenticator, or Google Authenticator. Users will not be able to receive push notifications if using any of these three authenticator applications.

Try It Out

iPhone – Download the Epic App, 2FA App, & Provision Access

Sequence of steps to complete enrollment: Download Epic App and 2FA App on mobile device > log into Hyperspace to authenticate and link your OU Health PRD environment to your authenticator app > log into Epic App on your mobile device and complete authentication.

STEP 1: Download the Epic App

  1. OPEN: App Store
  2. SEARCH: Epic Haiku & Limerick
    • Limerick is for your Apple Watch
  3. SELECT: GET icon App App Store with Epic Haiku and Limerick listed in search results
  4. DOUBLE TAP: to Install
    • If your phone is an older version, you may need to click an Install button
  5. CLICK: Open App App Store with Epic Haiku and Limerick listed in search results with Open button highlighted
  6. Before logging into Haiku, you must configure your device on the OU Health’s mobile production environment. Haiku login screen with No environments configured banner shown
  7. To provision your device
  8. SCAN: QR Code Haiku QR Code
  9. After you scan the QR code or click the link, you’ll be prompted to select a hyperlink.
  10. SELECT: Haiku hyperlink Web page with link options listed with Haiku link highlighted
  11. Once you have configured your device, you’ll be prompted to open the Haiku app. Open in Haiku prompt with Open button highlighted
  12. CLICK: Open
  13. You will be brought to the log in screen. Notice that OU Health is now listed at the top of your app.
    • If you are provisioned for Haiku at 2 or more organizations that use Epic, you will click the organization name at the top of this screen and select which organization you want to view. Haiku login screen with OU Health configuration banner listed
  14. Before you can log in, you must set up 2 Factor Authentication. Proceed to Step 2.
  15. EXIT: Haiku application

STEP 2: Download Authenticator App

  1. OPEN: App Store
  2. SEARCH: desired authenticator app
    1. Compatible Authenticator Apps: Epic Authenticator (recommended), Duo, Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator
    2. Duo, Microsoft Authenticator and Google Authenticator cannot enable push notifications.
  3. SELECT: GET icon
  4. DOUBLE TAP: to install a. If your phone is an older version, you may need to click an Install button
  5. COMPLETE: download of app
  6. EXIT: authenticator application
  7. Complete authentication provisioning directly in Hyperspace. Proceed to Step 3.

STEP 3: Link Authenticator App to Hyperspace

  1. OPEN: Hyperspace
  2. SELECT: Chart Search
  3. ENTER: Two Factor
  4. SELECT: Two Factor Authentication Enrollment activity Hyperspace app with Two Factor being searched in Chart Search
  5. ENTER: password
    • This is the same password as your log-in password Epic Hyperspace user login window
  6. The Two Factor Authenticator - Enrollment window opens.

  8. CLICK: Open Authenticator App on your phone
    • You may need to initiate a “new” account in your authenticator. This is sometimes a plus sign icon.
  9. SCAN: QR code displayed on the Hyperspace screen a. If prompted, allow “Access to Camera” Enrollment window with QR code displayed
  10. CLICK: Next

  13. The final step window opens. Follow any additional prompts to complete enrollment. Enrollment step Finish page with Finish button highlighted

STEP 4: Log Into Haiku App

  1. OPEN: Haiku App
  2. You will be brought to the log in screen. Notice that OU Health is now listed at the top of your app.
    • If you are provisioned for Haiku at 2 or more organizations that use Epic, you will click the organization name at the top of this screen and select which organization you want to view. Haiku login screen with OU Health configuration banner listed
  3. To log in,
  4. ENTER: your 34ID and Password
  5. You will receive a push notification (if you enrolled in the Epic Authenticator app)
    • If you enrolled in DUO, Microsoft Authenticator, or Google Authenticator, navigate to that app to approve access.
  6. APPROVE: sign-in authentication request
  7. Return to the Haiku app after authenticating.
  8. You’re ready to go!

 

Android – Download the Epic App, 2FA App, & Provision Access

Sequence of steps to complete enrollment: Download Epic App and 2FA App on mobile device > log into Hyperspace to authenticate and link your OU Health PRD environment to your authenticator app > log into Epic App on your mobile device and complete authentication.

  2. SEARCH: Epic Haiku & Limerick

  8. After you scan the QR code or click the link, you’ll be prompted to select a hyperlink.

CANTO

  1. FIND: App store
  2. SEARCH: Epic Canto as appropriate
  3. Download and Install the Epic app
  4. Download and Install a 2FA application
    1. Compatible Authenticator Apps: Epic Authenticator (recommended), Duo, Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator
    2. Duo, Microsoft Authenticator and Google Authenticator cannot enable push notifications.
  5. Before logging in, you must configure your device on the OU Health’s mobile production environment.
  6. To provision your device,
  7. SCAN: QR Code Haiku QR Code
  8. After you scan the QR code or click the link, you’ll be prompted to select a hyperlink.

  10. To provision your 2 Factor Authentication, repeat step 3 from the Haiku enrollment steps.
  11. Once you have configured your device,
  12. To log in,
  13. ENTER: your 34ID and Password
  14. You will receive a push notification (if you enrolled in the Epic Authenticator app)
    • If you enrolled in DUO, Microsoft Authenticator, or Google Authenticator, navigate to that app to approve access.
  15. APPROVE: sign-in authentication request
  16. Return to the Haiku app after authenticating.
  17. You’re ready to go!
