Description

Abridge is an AI platform for clinical conversations (dictation) integrated inside of Epic.

How Does the Technology Work?

Providers record their clinical encounters from beginning to end, verbalizing their evaluative process throughout. When they finish recording, the audio is processed by a third-party ambient listening vendor. The vendor processes the conversation and converts it into a note and orders tailored to the provider’s specialty practice. The documentation is then sent to Hyperspace for the provider to review and sign.

Edits made to ambient-generated notes are sent back to the vendor, which allows their AI to learn and improve its ability to write high-quality, accurate clinical documentation. Eventually, this process can lead to a faster turnaround time for notes and fewer corrections needed.

Encounter Is Stuck in Processing

Please take the following steps:

  1. First, make sure you’re connected to a strong Wi-Fi signal by toggling your Wi-Fi off and back on.
  2. Try to restart the Abridge mobile app. Restart the app by swiping up from the bottom of the screen, wait 15 seconds, and then tap the app icon on your home screen again. Do not log out when you do this.
  3. Try closing other apps that might compete for uploading connectivity bandwidth

Record Button Is Not Working

If you tap on the red record button and it doesn’t activate, it means that the access to your microphone is being blocked on your phone/tablet by another app or device. Follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to your device’s settings and turn off your Bluetooth. This will ensure that your device is not trying to automatically connect to another device such as headphones or hearing aids.
  2. If that doesn’t solve the problem, close all other apps you’re using on your device, to ensure that other apps are not preventing the Abridge for Clinicians app from accessing your microphone.

Wi-Fi Connectivity Issues

Follow these steps if you are having problems with your Wi-fi connectivity:

  • Turn your Wi-Fi off and back on to see if a strong connection can be re-established.
  • Verify whether other network applications work on the same device, such as a web browser.
  • If your phone is unable to connect to a wireless or mobile network, you may continue to use the Abridge mobile app to record conversations in offline mode. However, notes will not be generated until you are back online.
  • If you continue to have network connectivity issues, you may contact the IT department to troubleshoot your phone’s Wi-Fi connection. If all else fails, try updating to the latest app version, and then try deleting and reinstalling the app.
