PingID enables you to sign on to all your applications with the added security of multifactor authentication. Use the PingID desktop app to generate a one-time passcode (OTP) from your computer that you can use to authenticate. Please note this app will need to remain installed if you choose this method, as desktop app authentication prompts will appear in this application. If you have accidentally uninstalled the app and no longer have the ability to authenticate, please see this article.

Authenticate using the desktop app
OU recommends having multiple methods of PingID authentication configured. If you are unable to use the Ping application on your phone due to being on a flight or are unable to access your phone, the desktop application may act as a good alternative solution if you have wired or wireless access on the computer.
To configure the desktop app, please do the following:
- Log in to your account, or access an application that requires authentication. You'll see the Authentication screen, prompting you to enter a passcode.
- Launch the PingID desktop app. A passcode is generated.
- Click Copy to copy the passcode, paste it into the Authentication window, and then click Sign On. Ensure the browser window is selected when you paste the passcode.
- You'll see the green checkmark indicating authentication is successful and your access is approved.
