Duo Two-Factor Registration Process

Welcome to Duo Two-Factor Authentication Registration

Duo two-factor authentication works best via the smartphone or tablet app documented in the instructions on this page. 

Note: To register for Duo Two-Factor authentication, go to Duo.ouhsc.edu from a computer. You will enter your HSC User ID and Password, check box that you agree to Notice of Consent and select Login. If the Notice of Consent is unchecked, you will not be able to register.

 

 1. Select Start setup on the Protect Your OUHSC Account page.

 2. Select the type of device you would like to register Mobile phone or Tablet. By selecting a Tablet, you will not be prompted to enter a phone number (skip to step #4).

 3. Once you have selected Mobile phone, you will be required to enter your phone number of the device you would like to register using the example. Check the box to confirm phone number, select Continue.

 4. The next page will ask you to select what type of device you are registering.

Phone options: iPhone, Android, Blackberry or Windows Phone(s)
Tablet options: iOS or Android Tablet(s)

 5. The Install Duo Mobile App page gives instructions based on device type to where to get the app. If you have a Android device go to "Google Play" Store or for  Apple iOS devices go to "iTunes or Apple Store" for Duo Mobile App. Once the app has been installed on your device, you will select I have Duo Mobile installed.

 6. Open the Duo app on phone or tablet and select Add Account. This will open your camera for the next step to scan the bar code on your computer screen. To scan bar code, hold camera up to computer screen in front of bar code. The device camera should start a process stating adding account. Once account has been added, your Bar Code will have a green check mark. Select Continue.

If you do not have a camera on your mobile device, then Follow instructions (6A-6B) below.

6A. While on the Activate Duo Mobile page, choose Or, have an activation link emailed to you instead.  Enter your HSC email address and select Send email. An email will be sent from Duo Security with a link to activate the code. OPEN LINK FROM EMAIL ON YOUR DEVICE. Open HSC email configured already on phone or go to webmail.ouhsc.edu and open email.

6B. Be sure to open the link with the DUO Mobile app if device prompts or gives an option box. You will then get the Adding Account process message.

**Note: if you try to use the code twice you will be instructed to contact the Administrator for a new activation code. Contact the IT Service Desk @ 405-271-2203.

7. Your Registration screen should now show your device added and a When I log in authentication method. Select the pull down menu and choose the preferred method:

            1. Ask me to choose an authentication method (recommended)

8. Enrollment is now complete. This last page is what you will see normally when you log into Duo Authentication. You can now choose to have a Push notification, where the phone or tablet notification will ask you to Approve and Confirm authentication (recommended). This will not be a text message. You can also choose the Passcode where you hit the Key icon in your Duo Mobile app. After this step you should see the Congratulations, you have successfully signed up for Duo!
