How to Retrieve Secure Email

Follow these steps if you've received a secure, encrypted email.

  • If you've received an email from securemail@ouhsc.edu, the body of the email will contain instructions for viewing the secure message. 
  • Open the attachment SecureMessageAlt.html.
  • Click the Click to read message button. 
  • If this is the first time you've received an encrypted email from OUHSC, you'll be prompted to go through an enrollment process.
    • Enter first name
    • Enter last name
    • Enter a password (password must have at least one number, one special character; must not have all or part of the account name; password expires in 90 days; system remembers last six passwords)
    • Retype the password to confirm it
    • Select a password reset security question
    • Enter the answer
    • Click the Continue button 
  • After finishing the enrollment process, you'll be able to view the email. 
  • When viewing the email, you'll be able to Reply or Reply All, if needed. However, you won't be able to forward the email.
  • When finished reading or replying to the email, click the Logout button in the upper right corner. 
  • If you forget the password, click the Forgot Password button. 
  • Answer your security question, click the Continue button. 
  • You'll now be able to change the password, click the Continue button. 
  • Once the password has been changed successfully, you'll be shown the secure email.
  • When finished reading or replying to the secure email, click the Logout button in the upper right corner.
