Another feature built into SharePoint is fully customizable permissions on all of your files, folders and libraries. Depending on your permissions for a library, you should be able to specify who can access any of your files and folders and to what extent:
- Read-only
- Modify
- Full control
There are a few things to keep in mind regarding permissions:
- By default, the permissions on a particular library or document is determined by the permissions of the site or library it is contained in (this is referred to as 'inheritance').
- To change permissions away from this default setting, you will need to 'stop the inheritance'.
