Install Respondus LockDown Browser:

To install Respondus LockDown Browser (LDB) on your computer for use at The University of Oklahoma (all campuses/programs) visit https://link.ou.edu/respondus.  

You must click the yellow INSTALL NOW button, then follow the install prompts on your computer.  If you have used Respondus LDB at another university, you MUST download the OU-specific software here; previous installations from other institutions will not work.  If you downloaded LDB from the company website, uninstall it and use the link above for LDB to work at OU. 

NOTE: Because all three campuses have a combined Respondus license, under the Install section, you will see the following install notice in the third box: Install LockDown Browser for University of Oklahoma Health Science Center.  Do not worry; you are in the right place if you are a University of Oklahoma student on any campus!

USE Respondus LDB in Canvas:

How to take a Classic quiz with LockDown Browser in Canvas:

1. Launch the LockDown Browser app from your computer.
2. Using the LDB browser, log in with your OU credentials. (You will now see this article).
3. Click on this Canvas URL to access the course and then your quiz: https://canvas.ou.edu.

How to take a New Quizzes quiz with LockDown Browser in Canvas: (this is a new quiz tool not widely utilized at OU yet)

1. Click on this Canvas URL, log in, go to your course, and access your quiz: https://canvas.ou.edu.
2. If LockDown Browser launches automatically, this is all you need to do. 

USE Respondus LDB in Brightspace by D2L:

How to take a quiz with LockDown Browser in Brightspace by D2L:  

You must first go to your Brightspace by D2L course via your Internet browser (NOT the LDB one) and start your quiz-taking process there.  After clicking on a quiz to enter, a “Launch LockDown Browser” button will appear at the bottom of the page. This is where you will then start LockDown Browser.

After the initial download and installation of the software, LockDown Browser is only ever launched from within a Brightspace by D2L quiz. If you start the LockDown Browser app BEFORE you start your quiz process, you will end up back on this page.
