Importing Final Canvas Grades Checklist

 

Submitting Final Grades from Canvas to ONE

For guidance, please watch the Submitting Canvas Grades to Banner from ONE (Norman) video or follow the step-by-step instructions below.

  1. Navigate to one.ou.edu and log in using your OU credentials.
  2. If your account has access to both the employee and student versions of ONE, select the circle button with your profile picture then select the Employee option.

  3. Ensure you are on the Courses page by selecting the Courses option in the left-side navigation bar. The left side bar navigation menu.
  4. Ensure you are grading the correct semester by selecting the right-most drop-down menu. Semester drop-down menu with the words Spring 2026 outlined by a rounded rectangle.
  5. When you are ready to submit final grades for a course, select its course card.                                              A rectangular course card with information about the course's prefix, CRN, term, and meeting times.
  6. Select the Grades tab, and then select the Import Grades from Canvas button. The grades tab with the word Grades and the Import grades from Banner button outlined by a rounded rectangle.
  7. The Canvas current grade column is the grade that is displayed in Canvas, and the Canvas calculated final grade is the grade that will be sent to Banner. If the Canvas calculated final grade column is correct, then select the Submit final grades to Banner button; otherwise, review the Troubleshooting Common Final Grade Issues section.The Import Canvas grades page with several buttons (i.e. refresh grades, view in Canvas, submit midterm grades to Banner, Submit final grades to Banner, show only discrepancies) and columns with student information (name, sooner ID, canvas current grade, canvas calculated final grade).
  8. If there are no warnings or errors, you will get a confirmation message and the final grades will appear in the Final column. Troubleshooting Common Final Grade Issues

Ungraded Assignments

The Import Canvas grades page with a 1 student with grade discrepancies warning. The resolve in Canvas and Refresh grades buttons are outlined by a rounded rectangle.

  1. If a student's Canvas current grade does not match their Canvas calculated grade when submitting final grades, select the Resolve in Canvas button in the warning message to go directly to the course's Gradebook.
  2. For the students with a grade discrepancy, enter a grade or EX for excused assignments in every cell with a dash.
  3. After correcting the gradebook, go back to the Import Canvas grades and select the Refresh grades button.
  4. If the warning message disappears, then select the Submit final grades to Banner button.

Students with a F or AW Needs a Last Attend Date

  • From the Grades tab, select the Edit grades in Banner button.
  • Under the Final Grades tab, enter the student's final grade and last attend date in the relevant fields, then select Save.
  • You will get a confirmation message that save was successful and grades and last attend date will appear under the Final column.

Submitting Midterm Grades

The process for entering Midterm Grades is similar to Final Grades with a few key differences.

  • Select the Submit Midterm Grades to Banner instead of Submit final grades to Banner button.
  • Ignore the grades in the Canvas calculated final grade column.
  • While you may get the Final Grade Discrepancy Warning as seen in the Ungraded Assignments Issue section, Banner will only accept midterm grades in the Canvas Current Grade column.
  • Successfully submitted grades will appear in the Midterm column.
