When messages from an OU email account are sent to Hotmail.com and Outlook.com email addresses, they’re currently being routed to the junk mail folder in the receiver’s account. In order to fix this issue, you will have to whitelist communications from OU. The two methods of whitelisting email from OU in Outlook.com or Hotmail.com are as follows:
1). Click on the gear icon in the upper-right corner of the screen, and then click on ‘Options.’ Under the header ‘Preventing junk email,’ click on ‘Safe and blocked senders,’ then on ‘Safe senders.’ This screen will allow you to whitelist either a particular email address (example@ou.edu) or the entire OU domain (ou.edu), preventing any messages from them from going to the Junk folder.
2). Go into the Junk folder and click on the relevant email. In the upper-right corner, click on the ‘Actions’ drop-down box, then click on ‘Not Junk.’ This will move the affected email into your inbox and also add the sender into the ‘Safe Senders’ list, preventing this from happening again with this sender.
