Site Actions > Site Settings

Site settings is one of the most important areas that a site collection administrator will use.  Based on your permission level, you will see the following sections:

  • User and Permissions: Listing of people and groups that have various permission levels to your site.  You can change permissions under this section.

  • Galleries: You want to maintain a consistent theme, content and list types so that users fave a familiar feel moving around the sites.  Galleries is how you create these master pages and templates to create content from them.

  • Site Administration: Site owner is responsible for managing an individual site within a site collection.  These are the top level site options such as site structure, navigation options, workflow settings and site maintenance performance issues.

  • Look and Feel: This is a good starting point for a new site owner.  Review your site Title and description.  You can add a site logo image here as well as change the site colors or theme.  Navigation can be either Global across the top of your site pages or the Quick Launch Bar which resides on the left of your site pages.

  • Site Actions: You can delete sites under this section as well as view user reports on site activity.
