Forgetting a Wireless Network

Sometimes during wireless usage, your computer or device may have trouble using or reconnecting to a saved wireless connection such as WIFI@OU. You may wish to remove the network, and then re-add it.

Android:

  1. From the home screen, choose Settings.
  2. In the settings menu, choose Wi-Fi.
  3. Locate the network in question and tap or press and hold it.
  4. Choose Forget.
  5. If you wish to re-add the network, return to the list of available networks and select to connect to the network in question.

 

Mac OS (Apple Laptop):

  1. Click the wifi symbol at the top of your screen, and select Open Network Preferences.
  2. In the lower-right corner, choose Advanced.
  3. Under Preferred Networks select the network you wish your computer to forget.
  4. Click the minus (-) button to forget.
  5. Click OK.
  6. If you wish to re-add the network, return to the list of available networks and select to connect to the network in question.

 

Apple iOS (iPhone or iPad):

  1. From the home screen, choose Settings.
  2. In the settings menu, choose Wi-Fi.
  3. Locate the network you wish for your device to forget and click the blue "i" symbol next to the name.
  4. Now tap Forget This Network.

To forget a network that you've joined before but aren't currently using:

  1. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
  2. Tap Edit in the corner of the screen to see the networks known to your device.
  3. Take either of these actions:
    • Tap the delete button, then tap Delete.
    • Or tap the More Info button next to the network, tap Forget This Network, then tap Forget to confirm.

 

Windows 10:

  1. Click the Network icon on the lower right corner of your screen.
  2. Choose Network & Internet settings.
  3. Click on Wi-Fi in the left menu.
  4. Under Manage known networks, select the network in question.
  5. Then click the Forget button.
  6. If you wish to re-add the network, return to the list of available networks and select to connect to the network in question.
