Troubleshooting

  • If you have installed GlobalProtect for Windows and receive the following error when you attempt to connect: "Could not connect to the GlobalProtect service. Make sure the GlobalProtect service is running. If the issue persists, contact your administrator", please verify the version you have installed for your operating system. Running the 32-Bit installation on a 64-Bit Windows installation may result in this error. To resolve the issue, please uninstall your 32-Bit GlobalProtect installation, next reinstall the 64-Bit installer and then try to connect once again.
  • If you leave your GlobalProtect connection active and do not disconnect, you may experience the following behavior:
    • You may still receive PingID prompts when you are connected to a known network on which you have utilized GlobalProtect previously.
    • You may receive PingID prompts approximately twelve hours after connecting, if you are still connected. This typically is experienced on devices that are left on 24/7. The connection will drop and try to reconnect after 12 hours, which sends a PingID prompt, even when you aren't actively on the device.
    • In these situations, it is recommended you select to Disconnect from GlobalProtect if you do not actively need it.
    • If these background reconnection atttempts resulted in PingID using up the daily limit of security text messages, then this may affect your ability to log in to other OU applications, sites and services. This includes GlobalProtect, which may error on login: GlobalProtect login error
